Broad Haven And Pembrokeshire
Leisure Facilities:
There are public swimming pools and gyms at Haverfordwest Leisure Centre and Milford Haven Leisure centre. There are also swimming pools at Narberth, Tenby, Fishguard and Pembroke (though these are further away). There is also a Pool at the Blue Lagoon Wales near Narberth (wave pools and flumes).
There is a climbing wall at the leisure centre in Haverfordwest and a climbing centre in Tenby.
There are lots of activities around – if you want to know anything further, just ask!
Running:
There are lots of places to run from 2 Sunnybank – to the top of Long Lane and back is exactly 5km! If you head up Long Lane, turn left at the very top, turn left and go past Timber Hill, then follow the coast road back to Broad Haven, cut through the Car Park, and head back up the main road to Long Lane – that is 7.7km.
Broad Haven and the surrounding area also have lots of trails for the more adventurous runners among you – and the Endurancelife Coastal Trail Series Marathon starts just 10 minutes away in Little Haven. Cycling:
There are lots of cycle routes that are pretty family friendly in Pembrokeshire. Long Lane is part of a cycle path, but it does go onto the main road into Broad Haven. For more information go to:
Surfing:
If you are a keen surfer, you will probably already know the best spots to go to and have a Stormriders Guide. If you fancy going for a surf off Broad Haven then the first 2 hours after high tide are best – there are tide tables available online – just remember to add the time difference for Broad Haven. Surfboards, paddleboards, wetsuits and sit on kayaks are all available to hire at Haven Sports in Broad Haven, Newsurf in Newgale and Ma Simes in St Davids. Wild Swimming:
This is a really popular pastime in Pembrokeshire, and is the birthplace of the famous Bluetits Chill Swimmers. Hazel is a member of the Havens Bluetits, so if you fancy giving it a go, just ask and you are welcome to join the madness. There are swims going on all the time from Broad Haven and also further afield in Solva, Abereiddy, and all around the Pembrokeshire Coast.
